Today is the end of times. Dramatic? Sure. Not the end of the world (yet) - but a turning point. There’s a powerful, weird alignment in the sky as I write this (totally intentional).
Don’t worry, I won’t chew your ear with technical astrology. I prefer to kick where it hurts and make you think.
This is one of those real-life stories that rewires you. It will either push you toward evolution or drag you into more misery - depending on your worldview and your level of consciousness.
Warning: this one’s impactful and heart-breaking.
“Please, Rose, not again. Why are you so dark lately?”
Because I’m facing my own shadows. It’s ugly in there.
“I came here to feel inspired, not depressed.”
Then leave. I can’t be anything but truthful to myself - and my writing will always reflect that truth, even when it’s uncomfortable.
If you choose to keep reading, sit down and get cozy. Well done for not escaping the darkness.
This story isn’t about me. It’s about someone my friend knows.
Let’s call him John.
John is 54, married, with a grown son in his early twenties. Honest bloke, hardworking, doing the best he can (like most of us). He reached a point where he woke up to the fact that life isn’t just: be born, grow, work hard, tick boxes, die. So he planned to retire early at 55. That’s next year. He and his wife live simply, put money away sensibly, and wanted to enjoy the small things - travel, quiet mornings, the usual modest dreams.
Sound familiar?
Because he did the sane thing - saved, avoided debt, planned. The numbers aligned. It was going to happen.
So far, so good.
I bet you already know where this is going.
The Universe, God, the One Mind, Aunty Greta...
You may (or may not) know my views on this department. I don’t attach to any label when it comes to faith. Religions are costume parties, and the God we’ve been sold for centuries simply… doesn’t exist.
Am I an atheist? Not anymore. I was, until I felt the unity of all things (the divine) inside me for a split second. That’s all it took.
So who created us? Not a man with a white beard in seven days, no. But something else... Something we can’t fully explain, not even the best scientists with all their PhDs.
We ain’t got a fucking clue.
So we make stuff up.
Back to John…
A few weeks ago he was driving with his wife on the motorway. A car in front was driving dangerously. His wife called the police. John followed the dangerous driver. A lorry ahead lost control because of that driver and clipped John’s car on the side. John died instantly. His wife survived but is badly injured.
I’ll stop the story there. That’s enough to sit with.
The Questions
How can God allow this (and a million other horrors) to happen?
Was it God who did this?
If you’re religious, you might hear the old answer: God has reasons. He’s saving you from something you don’t understand. He has a plan. He is testing you.🙄
If you’re not religious, you hear something else: life is brutal and indifferent and a total mystery.
Either way, people want a reason. We crave meaning.
Here’s my blunt take: life happens. Nothing in this Universe is personal. Trees were growing before you existed and they’ll keep growing when you’re gone. You have nothing to do with Creation - you’re not special in that cosmic sense.
Our powerful egos make everything personal. We stick the pronoun “my” on everything: my job, my house, my partner, my life. Then we act shocked when the “my” is snatched away.
Do you think you’ll take those “my” things with you when you leave? Of course not.
I’m not saying don’t own things. You must live. We need shelter, food, and yes… love. But everything is temporary. Instead of enjoying what we have, too many of us fight (at home, at work, on the street) building misery out of what should be joy.
That’s suffering.
Look at the world right now: people divided, pointing fingers, claiming divine mandate while behaving like savages. It’s grotesque. Society has lost the plot.
So what’s my message?
I’m not aiming for nihilism. I’m not saying nothing matters and we should throw in the towel. Far from it.
My message is simple: stop believing in outdated narratives that soothe your fear but rob you of accountability and presence.
What!? Are you saying there is no God up there and that Jesus is not coming back to save us?!
Exactly that.
Jesus was a teacher of consciousness. His teachings were about responsibility, inner freedom, and waking up. Somewhere along the line his message was packaged into a system that can be used as a control tool. I’ll teach more on that later if you want.
The real teaching is: everything is in you. There is no one outside who holds power over your life - not a party, not a pastor, not a politician - unless you give it to them.
It is you against your mind.
If your mind runs the show, you will suffer. If the conscious being you runs the show, life becomes a journey worth experiencing.
If you are hiding behind religion, ideology, nationality or victim narratives to avoid inner work - wake up. And if you’re causing harm, stop pretending your beliefs absolve you. There is no external absolution for cruelty.
Be the conscious being you are. Learn to quiet your mind. Find a center that is not moved by the storm. When you live from that place, you’ll feel safe - and when you feel safe, life becomes, unbelievably, beautiful.
Love,
Rose 🌹
