Who Are You When the Lights Go Out?
What an eclipse can teach us about identity, visibility, success and the difference between being seen and being alive.
On August 12th, there is a total solar eclipse but this email isnāt really about astrology.
Itās about a question I heard a few days ago and I canāt ignore:
Who are you when the lights go out?
When nobody is watching and you no longer have the title, the relationship, the success, the younger body, the followers, the money, or that identity youāve spent years building.
For years I was extremely visible. Hundreds of thousands of people were watching me. My business was successful. And, paradoxically, I think that was precisely when I stopped seeing myself.
I find the symbolism of this eclipse beautiful and valid for everyone: for a few minutes, the biggest light in our sky disappearsā¦ and suddenly we can see stars in the daylight that were there all along.
Maybe sometimes the same thing happens in our lives.
Something has to go dark before we can see what else is still alive.
